Intro to Crochet Session C

Ready to start exploring the world of crochet patterns? Learn to read patterns and charts to assemble complex projects of your own.

In this class you will:

• Learn how to read patterns and charts
• Learn how to find patterns on Ravelry
• Learn how to spot and avoid AI patterns
• Learn how to troubleshoot patterns

For ages 12 and up.

Ongoing support is always available in the store at any time during our open hours. You are also welcome to come to Stitch & Bitch our social crafting group on Thursday evenings from 6-9pm where there is usually casual help available and a lot of fun!

Cancellations/refunds: If for whatever reason you want to withdraw from a class, please do so at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time of the class for a full refund. No-shows and cancellations less than 48 hours in advance of the class start time are not eligible for a refund. 

Skill Level Required: You should be comfortable working most basic crochet stitches: chains, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet. You should feel comfortable making granny squares.

Time: 2nd Sunday of the month from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.

Location: Black Squirrel Yarns, 651 Addison St, Suite B, Berkeley, California

Cost: $35 per student.

Materials: Students purchasing materials from the shop on the day of class will receive a 15% discount, but it isn’t required to use materials purchased in store to take the class. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early if you need to shop for supplies.

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in a light or bright color. The label may list the weight (thickness) of the yarn as “weight 4”.
• A crochet hook in the size range of 5.0 to 6.0 mm. The label may list the size as H-8, I, I-9, J, or J-10.
  

Please bring a pattern you are interested in making. It could be a pattern you may be having a hard time with or need help interpreting. If you don't have a pattern in mind, a free pattern will be provided.

I’ve been crocheting since 2003, knitting since 2010 and recently picked up shuttle tatting and sewing in 2023. Beyond fiber art I’m an Astrologer and Tarot Practitioner, occasional Ocarina player, and Baton Twirler.
