We have been huge fans of John Arbon Textiles for a while and are beyond thrilled to have their yarn in the shop. They are a worsted wool mill in Devon, England that takes solid color tops and blends them to get their beautiful colorways. Some colorways are are a blend of 6 or more individual colors making for very rich and nuanced colorways. See picture for an example of the seemingly disparate colors that are blended together. Appledore's colorways are all named after heirloom apples local to the mill in Devon. The names are as colorful as the yarn. The yarn is a blend of three British sheep breeds: Devon Closewool, Romney, and Exmoor Blueface. All are fully traceable to growers local to the mill.
