We have been huge fans of John Arbon Textiles for a while and are beyond thrilled to have their yarn in the shop. They are a worsted wool mill in Devon, England that takes solid color tops and blends them to get their beautiful colorways. Some colorways are are a blend of 6 or more individual colors making for very rich and nuanced colorways. Be sure to zoom in to the colors to see how gorgeous the final tops turn out.
They start with solid colored tops (aligned, parallel fiber) and blend their nuanced, heathered shades using precise recipes. If you look closely at any of the yarns, you’ll see that each heathered shade contains a multitude of colors within it. Curious what the fiber looks like before it is spun? Yarnadelic is created out of 100% Falklands Corriedale, which is a breed that's about 100 years old, derived by crossing Merino with Lincoln Longwool. It is the perfect balance of delightful softness and bounce from the Merino combined with the slight lustre and long staple length of the Lincoln Longwool.
The composition of Yarnadelic really lends itself to a thicker weight as Corriedale’s lofty nature means it won’t become too heavy even when used for a really big project. This yarn is a 3-ply which enhances the fiber’s natural stitch definition and drape. It’s a wonderful all-round yarn, great for everything from cables to lace and garments to accessories.
