A Felted Sky exclusive, these needle felting mats are made from 100% wool. The Large mat is 11 x 11 inches and 1.5" thick (approximately. The Mini is a cute but practical size at 5.5 x 5.5 inches and 1 inch thick (approximately). The Micro is approximately 3.5 x 4 inches; perfect for small projects, travel projects, and garment mending in small spaces like pockets and cuffs. All are very sturdy work surfaces that will last for many projects. The Mini and Micro sizes are easy to take along in a project bag if you're felting something small.
We love these wool mats both for sculpting and for flat felting. We recommend the Micro or Mini for all our kits where you will be making small parts and a larger mat is not needed. For the flat kits and other flat, detailed pictures, we recommend the large mat. Unlike foam, wool holds up project after project without breaking down. We estimate it can take six months of every day felting if you use both sides, and will last years for more infrequent felting. When it does eventually need to be replaced, because it is 100% wool you may be able to compost it or find other uses for it.
