Peace Fleece is our very favorite choice in the category of a "wooly" wool yarn - it's rustic, springy, toothy, strong, and squishy all at the same time, while still being *just* soft enough to wear against bare skin. It's a pleasure to work with, non-superwash, and makes for incredible colorwork with a tweedy heathered texture, and it really plumps up and softens with its first wash. The DK version comes in 9 beautiful shades, and the worsted/aran weight version comes in 40! Both weights come in generous 4 ounce skeins (113g)!
But besides being an all-around awesome yarn, we also chose Peace Fleece for its core mission. Their yarns are made from a blend of Merino and Rambouillet wool from Cottage Hill Farm in Ohio, Cook Farm in the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota, and the Navajo Nation in Arizona, blended with Texas Mohair, and it's dyed and spun here in the USA. Their commitment to sourcing wool raised by indigenous people and working directly with Navajo farmers is something that makes it stand out from similarly styled yarns, and we want to support them in their mission.
