We have been huge fans of John Arbon Textiles for a while and are beyond thrilled to have their yarn in the shop. They are a worsted wool mill in Devon, England that takes solid color tops and blends them to get their beautiful colorways. Some colorways are are a blend of 6 or more individual colors making for very rich and nuanced colorways. See picture for an example of the seemingly disparate colors that are blended together. We think that is the Slack Ma Girdle colorway being blended. Be sure to zoom in to the colors to see how gorgeous the final yarns turn out.
Harvest Hues Tops are a blend of Devon farmed Zwartbles, mixed with lustrous Bluefaced Leicester and Falklands Merino.
Inspired by the subtle tones of autumn in our Devon landscape, we set out to achieve a similar effect by blending the super saturated tones of our dyed Falklands Merino and lustrous Bluefaced Leicester with the naturally dark fibre of Devon-farmed Zwartbles. Together, they create a sublime depth of colour – transforming the resulting tops into complex, mottled, autumnal shades.
The soft-as-a-cloud Merino, elegant Bluefaced Leicester and bouncy Zwartbles complement each other perfectly, giving the spun yarn a delicate, woolly halo and full-bodied texture. It’s great for cables, texture and rustic lace, and equally well suited for accessories and garments.
