The Fala Shawl by Maia Discoe of Maia Knits is the newest pattern from the Acorn Design Collective - a group of local indie designers brought together by The Black Squirrel for publishing help and resource sharing. It features a new worsted weight self-striping yarn paired with a solid color, creating striking graphic stacks of stripes. It also has a special decorative cast-on created by Maia, and she's created a helpful tutorial for it on our blog as well!
These kits include all the yarn you need to knit the shawl, plus a complimentary DIGITAL copy of the pattern that will be sent to you via email. You can find the listing for just the pattern, with sliding-scale pricing, by clicking here.
Both shawl samples are knit up in our favorite affordable superwash worsted wool - two skeins of Universal Yarn's Deluxe Worsted for the main color and one skein of Universal Yarn's new Deluxe Stripes for the contrast color.
It's got a toothy heathered texture reminiscent of non-superwash wools, but it is against-the-skin soft, super squishy, and drapey even as a worsted - perfect for a shawl that feels like a hug! Choose from 2 different curated kit colorways we've put together for you:
A: Oatmeal Heather & Cornucopia Stripe
B: Pulp & Dragonfruit Stripe
75% Superwash Wool / 25% Nylon
Worsted Weight / 4-Ply
218 yds / 100g
You can also purchase skeins of Deluxe Stripes on their own by clicking here, and pair them with two 100g skeins of worsted weight from your stash to create your own shawl colorway!
