Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) is a breed of British Sheep that has become popular with hand spinners in recent years. The breed has become very popular around the world. It is known as a luster longwool and that comes through in this yarn. BFL is almost as soft as merino so it is great for next to the skin wear. The length of the staple (length of individual wool fibers) is much longer than merino making it significantly less likely to pill.
We love the range of evocative, natural, undyed shades, as well as beautiful rich tonal hues. The colors are dyed over a blend of white and natural brown wool giving a wonderful heathered appearance. With excellent stitch definition it will show off all styles of knitting and crochet be it in cables, colorwork, or lace. Show off its lustrous finish and beautiful drape on sweaters, shawls and more. We are thrilled to have this beautiful British grown BFL.
