Intro to Crochet Session A

Want to learn how to crochet? Or need a refresher because you haven't crocheted in
a long time?

In this class you will learn how to:

slipknot, chain stitch, single crochet and half double crochet

• Make a slipknot
• Start a foundation chain row
• Learn how to make single crochet stitches
• Learn how to make half double crochet stitches

No previous experience is required. For ages 12 and up.

Ongoing support is always available in the store at any time during our open hours. If you want more extensive help. You are also welcome to come to Stitch & Bitch, our social crafting group on Thursday evenings from 6-9pm where there is usually casual help available and a lot of fun!

Cancellations/refunds: If for whatever reason you want to withdraw from a class, please do so at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time of the class for a full refund. No-shows and cancellations less than 48 hours in advance of the class start time are not eligible for a refund. 

Skill Level Required: No prior experience required.

Time: 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. 

Location: Black Squirrel Yarns, 651 Addison St, Suite B, Berkeley, California

Cost: $35 per student.

Materials: Students purchasing materials from the shop on the day of class will receive a 15% discount, but it isn’t required to use materials purchased in store to take the class. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early if you need to shop for supplies.

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in a light or bright color. The label may list the weight (thickness) of the yarn as “weight 4”.
• A crochet hook in the size range of 5.0 to 6.0 mm. The label may list the size as H-8, I, I-9, J, or J-10.

I’ve been crocheting since 2003, knitting since 2010 and recently picked up shuttle tatting and sewing in 2023. Beyond fiber art I’m an Astrologer and Tarot Practitioner, occasional Ocarina player, and Baton Twirler.
