Our Mission

Black Squirrel Yarns is founded on community. We emerged from our local crafting community as a crowd funded pop-up. Serving our community is the guiding star of our mission as we move forward and continue to grow. 

Our priority is you: our customers, our community. We want to provide the resources that keep you crafting and welcome everyone regardless of their race gender orientation, age, ability, size, or economic status. How can we help? What products and services are you looking for? What types of yarn and notions do you want? What resources do you need? We are here to help you with your projects, inspire you, applaud you as you make and finish projects, and console you when you have set backs. You are welcome to come to the shop any time we are open for project help and advice or to hang out with us. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions, even ones you've already asked.

We love yarn, all kinds of yarn. We are always looking for beautiful, ethical products for our customers. We actively seek out businesses that share our values. Many of the businesses we work with are micro or small businesses owned by BIPoC, LGBTQIA, and women owned businesses. We want our suppliers to represent our cherished community.
