Fall Donation Drive for Charlotte Maxwell Clinic
This Fall, we're collecting donations of handmade hats, scarves, shawls, and lap blankets for the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic. Through Thursday, November 19th, drop off your clean, finished items at the shop to support low-income, under-served, and immigrant women receiving cancer care at CMC.
The winter and holiday seasons can be especially challenging for these women, and donations of handmade items help ease this challenging season.
Donations will be delivered and distributed on Friday, November 20th.
Donation Guidelines:
All items must be completed, gently-used or un-used, and cleaned with unscented products.
Hats are popular as many lose their hair during chemo and scalps can be sensitive, so softness/non-itchiness is key here. Very soft wool, wool blends, or plant fibers are recommended. Fibers that breathe are also supportive for those receiving hormonal-based treatments.
While all Charlotte Maxwell clients identify as women, they have a wide range of gender expression, so a range of styles/colors is appreciated.
Black Squirrel Yarns has several free hat and shawl patterns that would be perfect for donations! Check out our free patterns here.
