Isby Swick Fleischmann is an artist based in Grass Valley California. Each year she creates a beautiful seasonal calendar based on a California native plant. This calendar features cornus nuttalli (Pacific dogwood). It is a small to medium tree native to the west coast from Northern California to the southern edge of British Columbia. The flowers are quite tiny, but surrounded by bracts that appear to be white flower petals. The fruit is a drupe, a cluster of little druplets with 2 seeds. The leaves turn pretty shades of orange to purple in fall before they drop.
Four watercolor prints are overlayed with hand-drawn calendars take you through winter, spring, summer and fall moods of the Pacific dogwood. In addition to bringing art and nature into your home, the calendar offers a playful reminder of earth's natural clock.
Each painting is printed on 10.25 x18" high quality 110# cardstock paper, and is pre-drilled for easy display. The calendar includes full moons and new moons, identifies winter and summer solstices and spring and fall equinoxes, and leaves space for you to add your own notes.
